Sister Sue's Bakery
Sister Sue's is more than a bakery — it's a piece of my heart.
Growing up, my brother always called me "Sister Sue." It was a nickname he gave me when we were kids, and somehow it stuck through the years. When he passed away, I knew that if I ever turned my love for baking into something bigger, I wanted him to be a part of it.
Naming my bakery Sister Sue's felt like the perfect way to carry a piece of him with me every day and honor the person who inspired so much laughter, love, and joy in my life.
My passion for allergy-friendly baking began long before Sister Sue's. With my dad having Celiac Disease and my mom living with a nut allergy, I saw firsthand how difficult it could be to find treats that were both safe and genuinely delicious. Too often, allergy-friendly options felt limited, and I wanted to create something different — desserts that people get excited about, not desserts they settle for.
That passion led me to pursue my education in Baking and Pastry Arts through Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, where I focused on learning how to create baked goods that are every bit as beautiful, comforting, and indulgent as traditional favorites.
I spent years practicing, testing, and perfecting recipes, selling at local farmers markets, and connecting with my community before ever taking custom orders. I wanted every item that left my kitchen to be something I was truly proud of.
Today, everything at Sister Sue's is made from scratch using certified gluten-free ingredients and thoughtfully selected dairy-free and nut-free alternatives. From custom cakes and cupcakes to cookies, cinnamon rolls, muffins, and more, every recipe is created with quality, care, and flavor in mind.
As a Michigan cottage food bakery, I follow all Michigan Cottage Food Laws and take great care in every step of the baking process. My goal has always been simple: to create baked goods that bring people together and allow those with food allergies and dietary restrictions to enjoy something special without feeling left out.
